It’s becoming a growing trend and although they are relatively new, "green weddings" are the buzzword among the wedding industry. Share your eco-friendliness and social awareness with your friends and family by following some simple tips that will “green” your wedding but still give an understated elegance to your special day.
Recycled Invitations- Purchase recycled paper invitations, then have a calligrapher handwrite them. It looks amazing and gives business to a local.

Go for a “Green” Gown- Gorgeously Green offers links to where you can purchase wedding gowns that are made organic. They also have tips for fashion, lean green dieting, beauty, home decor and more...all in the name of “green”
Recycled Rings- Recycle a loved ones ring. Have your jeweler take a stone from a loved ones ring and design a new setting to create a ring that fits your personal style. This not only leaves you with a special memory, but also helps prevent environmental consequences of new Diamond mining. Contact

Venue- Choose a venue that is closer to home and allows natural sunlight. A backyard wedding is always a great route as well, as long as you have the space to accomodate.
Floral- Choose a florist who uses locally grown flowers. This saves on travel, they arrive fresh, and you are supporting a local business.
Food- Select locally grown and organic food for the reception. Again, you are supporting a local business. Ask your caterer to shop at farmers markets and local farms. Do not over cater so that you are not left with waste. What waste you do have to dispose of, compost if possible. Avoid disposable items with any glassware, flatware or cutlery. Treehugger’s Cafe in Berea uses organic ingredients and local produce.
